ITS Multimedia and Video Conference Facility

Hill Center Annex, Peabody Campus

General Facility Information

ITS provides a state-of-the-art conference facility for use by members of the Vanderbilt Community. It has extensive multimedia capabilities to accommodate a wide range of presentation and meeting needs. The room is approximately 650 square feet, and the conference table comfortably seats 12 people (16 in a pinch). There is no charge for using the room, and booking is based on availability.

The conference room is located on the second floor of the Hill Center Annex.

Video Conferencing

This facility offers a Polycom system with a Multipoint Control Unit (MCU) that allows video conferencing with up to three other sites through an IP connection. ISDN connectivity is not enabled.

A new Video Conference Bridge will be available for use in early 2007. This will enable conferencing with many more sites, limited only by available bandwidth. Both IP and ISDN connections will be supported.

Multimedia Technology

Our multimedia conference facility features a very wide range of technologies. These technologies are centrally controlled and well-integrated to adapt to a wide range of needs. Devices and features are outlined below.

Display Devices

  • Overhead Projector that displays on a 96” high contrast retractable screen
  • Plasma monitor with independent input/control
  • Lobby plasma monitor with independent input/control
  • SMART Board: 66” display with independent input & dedicated PC. The entire unit is portable within the room.

Media Inputs & Sources*

  • Polycom VSX 7000 Video Conferencing System
  • Table (VGA, audio)
  • Wall (VGA, component video & audio)
  • DVD Player
  • Television Tuner (attached to campus cable network)
  • VCR

*All media inputs and sources can be displayed independently on any or all display devices.

Room Controls

  • Central control panel (on conference table)
  • Pre-programmed lighting scenes
  • Projector screen control
  • Privacy/light shade controls (interior & exterior windows)
  • Audio/Video source routing, volume controls

Additional Amenities

  • Live streaming and video archive services are available. See Streaming Media Services for more information.
  • Convertible conference table (multiple configurations available depending on desired use)
  • Seating for up to 16 (12 very comfortably)
  • Adjustable leather conference chairs
  • 2 large dry-erase boards
