Enterprise Active Directory Service

ITS supports an enterprise active directory service which applications can use to authenticate users who present their VUnetID and EPassword.  This directory service is a highly available redundant service that is integrated with the centralized identity management service.  Active Directory service points and nodes are located in several areas to support both campus and medical center applications.

Active Directory should be used by windows based applications that require authentication and are active directory aware and/or need access to domain resources.  Applications that simply need to authenticate a user using their VUnetID and EPassword through an LDAP protocol, should use the Enterprise LDAP service.
