Sign-up Information
Q: Who is eligible for Sprint's Vanderbilt Student Cell Phone Plan?
A: Any part-time or full-time student who is currently enrolled and in good financial standing with Vanderbilt Student Accounts is eligible. Students who are on a deferred payment plan or whose account is on financial hold for any reason will not be eligible for this service. If you are unsure of your current status, or if your account is on financial hold and you would like to pay your bill, please visit http://www.vanderbilt.edu/stuaccts/. Once your financial standing is restored, please return to the order form to sign up.
Q: What type of agreement will I be signing?
A: A two-year agreement is required. A $150 Service Credit will be applied with the two-year agreement. An early cancellation penalty of $150 will be assessed except in the following circumstances:
EXCEPTIONS: A student can cancel the contract without penalty after 12 months, if the student has:
- graduated
- gone to study abroad
- transferred out of Vanderbilt
Q: Can I sign up for the Vanderbilt student plan at my local Sprint store?
A: No. Sprint's Vanderbilt Student Cell Phone Plan is available only through the order form.
Q: I already have a Sprint phone that is not in service. Do I have to order a new phone if I change to the student plan, or can I simply use the phone I already have?
A: A new Sprint phone ordered through the Vanderbilt student web site is required for use on the Vanderbilt student plan.
Q: What if I don't receive my phone within 7-10 business days?
A: Email help@sprintfon.com or call 1-800-974-2221 for assistance.
Q: What if I sent my order and realize that I have made a mistake?
A: You should reply immediately with your corrected information to the confirmation email sent to you after you submitted your order.
Q: Where will my phone be shipped?
A: Wherever you tell us! We suggest that you have your phone shipped to your Vanderbilt address.
Equipment
Q: Will I be able to order accessories for my new phone?
A: Yes, accessories can also be ordered along with the initial purchase of your phone on the Vanderbilt student web site. Accessories can also be ordered using your credit card at one of the local Sprint retail stores, or by calling 1-800-974-2221 and selecting option 3.
Q: Can I use a phone from another vendor (Verizon, for example) for my Sprint service?
A: No. Phones from other vendors do not work on the Sprint network.
Q: What happens if I order a phone that is on backorder?
A: Sprint will notify you via email with an approximate ship date. You may choose to wait or to order a different Sprint Vision phone.
Q: What if I find that I do not like the phone I selected?
A: There is a 14 day return policy. You may switch to a different phone as long as this is requested within 14 days of initial activation.
Q: I have received my Sprint Vision phone, but the phone says that it is locked. How do I unlock the phone?
A: The unlock code for your new Sprint Vision phone is “6285.” Power up the phone and follow the prompts.
Q: What is the Sprint Equipment Replacement Program?
A: Total Equipment Protection gives you the combined coverage offered by the Sprint PCS® Equipment Replacement Program and the Sprint Equipment Service & Repair Program in one complete package. For only $6.00 per month per phone, you can have a replacement in your hand quickly, so you can stay in touch with those you care about.
- Protects against lost equipment, theft, and accidental damage (including damage due to lightning, physical or liquid damage)
- $50 non-refundable deductible will apply for all approved replacements

- Protects against mechanical and electrical failure due to normal wear and tear, as well as defects

Plan Information
Q: I travel to another state several times a year. Won't I use a lot of roaming minutes whenever I'm out of Nashville?
A: No. The rate plans available include Roaming at no additional charge.
Billing
Q: What if I want to see my billing details?
A: Go to Sprint.com and:
- On the right hand side of the screen, you'll see Manage Your Account.
- Select Account Type My PCS Wireless.
- Enter your Sprint phone number (including the area code).
- Select Forgot My Username & Password.
- This will direct you to a Get Your Password page.
- Enter your Sprint phone number and a temporary password will be sent via text message to your phone.
NOTE: Make sure your PCS Phone is turned on and has a signal, to receive your password in a text message. - Once you receive the text message, click Continue to sign on.
- If this is the first time you have signed on, you will be prompted to replace your temporary password with a password of your choice. If you have signed on before and have already set up your password, it will send your original password as a reminder.
Q: Can I make a payment on my Student Account before I receive a bill?
A: Yes. Information about paying your bill is available online at http://www.vanderbilt.edu/stuaccts/ .
