Gmail at Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt University is excited to offer our undergraduate students an email choice. You can either continue using the current VUmail system or opt out in favor of a Gmail account powered by Google.

Your current Vanderbilt email addresses will be transferred to your Gmail account. For example, it will remain “jane.doe@vanderbilt.edu” instead of changing to “jane.doe@gmail.com”.

The Details

Some details about the Vanderbilt Gmail offering:

• It’s open only to Vanderbilt undergraduate students. It is not available to grad students, faculty, or staff.
• Vanderbilt will not migrate your existing VUmail email into your new Vanderbilt Gmail account. Nor will we migrate email from your other Gmail accounts into your Vanderbilt Gmail account.
• When you create your Vanderbilt Gmail account, you will no longer receive email via your VUmail account. However you will be able to log in and view VUmail email predating your Vanderbilt Gmail account creation for 30 days after signing up.
• If you opt in to Vanderbilt Gmail and decide it’s not for you, you can switch back and reactivate your VUmail account.
