On October 5, 2012, Vanderbilt Identity Services will release AccessVU.  AccessVU is an extensive upgrade to the identity management system.  This release of the identity management system will include the following:

Self-Registration / External Authentication:

• Allow limited use of Vanderbilt resources to self-registered users, possible uses:
• Prospective Students
• Library Patrons
• Contractors
• Allows users to optionally provide Personally Identifiable Information ( PII) for future account elevation
• Supports login using third party identity providers; such as Google, Windows Live, or Facebook

New Administration Tools / Enhanced Account Creation:

• Account creation will now support the following:
• Role based privileges for user accounts
• Admin can specify access to services
• Invitation based account creation
• Enhanced user interface for administrators
• New reporting tools

Access Control:

• Integration with Privilege Management
• Leverages new HR department trees
• Role based permissions for administrators
• Read only
• Identity Services Admin
• Partner Support
• VUMC Helpdesk
• ITS Helpdesk
• Dist Admin
• VU Admin
• Email Admin

In preparation for this release, the Identity Services team will begin extensive testing of the system and is looking for members of the community to assist with this effort.  We invite you to participate.  If you are interested in participating send an email to: AccessVU@Vanderbilt.edu.
