Exchange 2010 Migration

 

ITS is in the process of upgrading the email environment from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 in order to maintain supportability by the vendor. This new environment will have an enhanced web user interface as well as enhanced integration with SharePoint and Lync collaboration services.

Users will be contacted before their mailbox is moved. During the migration, users will have access to their email.

Important Migration Information:

  • Web access to email is also available at https://email.vanderbilt.edu.  While no problems are expected, should you have any issues with your normal email client (Outlook, etc), please use web access.
  • Incoming mail is held on the email server and delivered when the migration is complete.
  • Any mail sent during the migration is placed in the outbox and delivered to the recipient when migration is complete.
  • Mobile devices or manually configured email clients (MacMail, etc.) may need to be reconfigured and should be configured to use email.vanderbilt.edu after the migration.
  • Migrations are expected to take approximately 30 minutes, with large mailboxes taking longer.

No adverse effects are expected, however if you experience any issues after the migration, please use your normal support channel.
