ITS will be performing server maintenance on Sunday, 5/31, between the hours of 12:00 AM and 2:30 AM.  During this time apphost2 and news-srv1 (newsgroups server) will be unavailable.

ITS will also be implementing private IP addressing (RFC1918) on the campus DNS servers on Sunday, 5/31, between 12:00 AM and 1:00 AM.  No DNS service disruptions are expected during this time.

To prepare for this implementation, there will be a freeze on DNS changes starting on Thursday, 5/28.  Please submit DNS requests before 6:00 AM on 5/28 to have them implemented before 6/1.  Any non-emergency requests submitted after 6:00 AM on 5/28 will be implemented after 6/1.

After the implementation of RFC1918, DNS requests should specify if they are to be publicly available or only available within the Vanderbilt network.
