Microsoft SharePoint is a web-based collaboration tool that allows users to share information, documents, calendars, tasks, and much more. SharePoint is available to all Vanderbilt departments.

The following paragraph is from Microsoft's Office SharePoint Server 2010 product overview:

SharePoint 2010 is the business collaboration platform for the Enterprise and the Internet. When people need to work with other people, with content and information, or with line-of-business data, they can use the rich, out-of-the-box set of integrated capabilities in the SharePoint 2010 platform. People can also customize these capabilities to address specific business needs and integrate them with other products and solutions. Using the same set of capabilities and tools, companies can deploy SharePoint 2010 both inside the enterprise (that is, intranets) and outside of the firewall (that is, extranets, the Internet) so employees, customers, and business partners can work with the platform.

To prevent multiple log-in request in Sharepoint 2010:

We have provided a GPO to prevent multiple log-in request in Internet Explorer, this is located by opening Group Policy Management. Once this is open choose your OU, then choose "Link an Existing GPO". You will be prompted to choose a GPO. The name of the GPO is Sharepoint 2010 Production. For this GPO to work with XP and Vista you will need to make sure that KB943729 is installed.

To prevent multiple log-in request in Sharepoint 2010 Registry Entry:

We have also provided an option for use on Windows clients not served by a GPO for ITS hosted Sharepoint 2010. We will be making changes to the registry, so please proceed with care. This registry entry will work for Windows 7, Vista and XP, it is not intended for any other operating systems. If you have any questions please contact your local support provider or Partner Support at 6-4877. To install, please download the following file: SP2010.reg to your computer. Once you have downloaded the file:  unzip the file into a folder, double click to execute. Please expect a warning message, if you would like to continue choose "YES". To complete the installation of the registry entry your computer will need to be restarted.

Setting Up Sharepoint Mysite:

To set up your Sharepoint Mysite, navigate to https://profiles.vanderbilt.edu, once you have reached the page you will see the following menu at the top left side of the page.

Choose "My Content" and that will prompt Sharepoint to create your MySite. Please contact Partner Support at 6-4877 for any additional questions.
