Information Technology Services recently established a Skype Gateway into the Vanderbilt telephone system, enabling individuals outside of Vanderbilt to call Vanderbilt via a Skype account. Calls into the Skype gateway accounts are considered a "Skype-to-Skype" call, yet they are delivered to Vanderbilt Operator Services. Once a call is received, the operator can then transfer the call to any Vanderbilt extension.
Skype users can contact Vanderbilt via either of the two following Skype account names:
Departmental Skype accounts can be created if your department has the need for direct Skype voice connection. Please contact your ITS Service Delivery Manager for assistance. You will need to provide the Vanderbilt extension you would like to receive the Skype calls and determine your Skype user name. The Vanderbilt extension must be a physically answered extension versus an extension that is answered by a caller's menu.
