Keep Your VUnetID for Life

Vanderbilt students, faculty and staff can now keep their Vanderbilt digital identity, known as their VUnetID, for life, making it easier to stay connected with the university and access key university resources after they leave.
McAfee 8.7 Update
ITS will be adding Virus Scan Enterprise 8.7 patches to the antivirus update repository on Wednesday, October 14, between the hours of 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM. These patches will add support for Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2. Systems configured to automatically update will receive and install these patches. No outage is expected during this time.
ITS launches Vmail to increase collaboration, consolidate resources
All Vanderbilt faculty, staff and graduate student email will be powered by Vmail, Vanderbilt’s new enterprise messaging system, by the end of the academic year, resulting in expanded online collaboration tools and significant savings to the university and medical center.
Gmail will power all undergrad email beginning Oct. 2
On Oct. 2, VU Gmail will become the exclusive email service for Vanderbilt University undergraduates. To claim their Gmail account prior to Oct. 2, students should visit http://its.vanderbilt.edu/gmail and follow the instructions. All remaining undergraduate mailboxes will be automatically directed to Gmail by Information Technology Services Oct. 2.

DHCP Upgrade - Migrations Underway
In an ongoing effort to maintain reliable, available, serviceable, and secure infrastructure, ITS plans to migrate campus subnets to new DHCP servers beginning Thursday, July 9.
To see a schedule of subnet migrations, login to the DHCP migrations website with your VUnetID and password. No outages are expected, but some printers and computers may need to be power cycled to reconnect to the network properly.

VU Gmail Extended for Graduating Seniors
Vanderbilt University is pleased to announce that graduating undergraduate students can now continue to use their VU Gmail account, @vanderbilt.edu, after graduation. Students using VU Gmail accounts will be able to continue using their accounts indefinitely.
ITS Updates DNS Policy
The DNS policy governing domain name usage at Vanderbilt has been updated on the ITS website. The updated policy more clearly addresses the process to register and host non-Vanderbilt domain names and clarifies changes to sub-domain management. Click here to view the newly updated DNS policy.
iPhone's @ Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt Community members interested in the much-awaited Apple iPhone 3G can synch their Exchange email, contacts, and calendar with the devie and obtain a discount on their service plan through AT&T.
The new iPhone 3G features access to a faster wireless network and support for Exchange ActiveSync so the phone can be synched directly with an Exchange server.
