Streaming Media Services

  • Live event streaming - ITS can create simultaneous streams of video and/or audio in Real and Windows Media formats for events originating on Vanderbilt's campus and also create archive files in these formats for later viewing. (Events may also be simultaneously broadcast live on TeleVU Channel 8 if desired.) Normally the event organizer is responsible for providing audio and video (A/V) inputs to our on-site streaming media appliance and for ensuring there is an Ethernet connection within close proximity to the A/V input source. When necessary, ITS can provide a Canon GL2 video camera and Sennheiser wireless microphones with operator for one event at any given time.
  • Self-help streaming
    • ITS has available for check-out the VBrick Windows Media encoder with Powerpoint integration and the Viewcast GoStream appliance (which allows streaming in 3 different formats with just the push of a button) subject to availability. For more information on the user training and event coordination required for either of these offerings, please use the request form below.
    • Click on the links below to see captures made with Camtasia Studio - streaming media created with just a webcam and a laptop! This product is available through the ITS Software Store at a substantial discount from list price, email or call them at 343-3919 for current pricing.

  • Delayed event (archived) streaming - ITS can provide a camera and operator for delayed archiving. In this case the event is encoded but not streamed live or recorded directly on the camera's mini-DV tape (ninety minute recording time) and converted to streaming media formats as soon as possible after the event, usually within one business day. On-site Ethernet connection is not required for this type of service, but may be used if available.
  • Streaming content storage - ITS can assist in uploading existing content to the ITS media server. This content must be in Real, Windows Media, Quicktime or MP3 format to be eligible for storing and streaming on the media server. We can help with media transfers to support streaming formats provided the source materials are on DVD or mini-DV tape.

ITS does not currently offer audiovisual, postproduction, web design or file conversion services not directly related to the service offerings described above.

NOTE: Before filling out this form, please ensure you have the consent of the presenter or subjects to be streamed and/or recorded.
