Voice Network Upgrade Successful
February, 2009 – The last weekend in February was marked with a major milestone and accomplishment for the Vanderbilt voice network. The hardware and software for the voice network were successfully upgraded with very minimal downtime.
IP telephony services are fully available across all parts of the network; out-of-lifecycle hardware was replaced; and the software was advanced 8 versions ahead of where it had been. This accomplishment was the result of months of planning and hard work by the ITS project implementation team, with a great deal of coordination between ITS teams, Vanderbilt departments and the vendor.
Vanderbilt now has the largest NEC SV8500 network in the world.
