IF PORTIONS OF THE VANDERBILT TELEPHONE SYSTEM SHOULD FAIL..

The "Emergency Red Phone System" is designed to provide communication coverage in the event of a phone system outage. The red telephones, located at strategic sites are served by an alternative telephone switch, as opposed to the telephone switch that serves normal telephones in the same area. The number of the red telephone is an extension associated with that particular telephone switch.

Red telephones operate as any standard telephone throughout Vanderbilt. During a telephone system outage, you may experience difficulty reaching other Vanderbilt areas. If this occurs, use the directory below for those areas that cannot be reached on usual extensions. For more information, see the Red Phone FAQ.

Note: During a system outage, overhead paging and STAT calls must be referred to the Vanderbilt Operators at the numbers listed below.
