Communication is one of the most integral parts of a successful organization.

Today, organizations rely heavily on electronic mail (Email) to accomplish this. At Vanderbilt, the Electronic Communication Services (ECS) team is responsible for maintaining the VUMC Exchange 2003 services.

The ECS team is dedicated to providing secure, reliable Exchange 2003 email for departments at Vanderbilt.

VUMC Exchange 2003 email services encompass:

• Internal email, calendaring and scheduling within Vanderbilt
• External email via an SMTP mail gateway
• Connections to internal departmental email systems
• Direct, secure connections to approved external mail systems

The Electronic Communication Services team provides 7x24 support for secure access to VUMC Exchange 2003 email via numerous protocols including:

• MAPI - Messaging Application Programming
• HTTPS - Secure Hypertext Transfer Protocol
• POP3 - Post Office Protocol 3
• IMAP - Internet Message Access Protocol
